We were thrilled to test our samples, and some from the LGL-TPE, on Ablatom’s new machine: the Ablascan™. It is an automated, high-throughput elemental microscope based on LIBS spectroscopy (laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy) and powered by AI. The solution makes LIBS analyses reliable, fast, robust and accessible: a concentrate of the best of LIBS technology and Lyon know-how.

This technology could become strategic for the analysis and identification of strategic natural resources, for white hydrogen production, CO₂ storage, metal remediation, recycling and the identification of new ores.

With this tool, we completed the full elemental analysis of several complex geological samples in a few hours (5 × 5 mm areas at 5 µm resolution) and watched the elemental maps appear in real time.

We look forward to a close collaboration with the company and to its future developments. A big thank you to Florian Trichard, PhD, and Damien Devismes for their welcome.
